Vietnam, France Pledge to Speed up Cooperative Transport Projects

Vietnam and France agreed Friday that they will jointly speed up the implementation of cooperative transport projects so as they will be completed as scheduled.

The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Minister of Transport, Dinh La Thang, and French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing, Thierry Mariani, during their talks here on Friday.

At the talks, the Vietnamese transport minister thanked the French government for their assistance and cooperation over the years, especially in railway, airlines and urban transport.

The two ministers worked on measures to handle difficulties and speed up the implementation of the on-going projects in Vietnam with funds from the French government so as they can be completed as scheduled.

They also agreed upon plans for cooperation in the coming years, including development of infrastructure projects in the form of public-private-partnership (PPP), promotion of airlines cooperation and training for Vietnamese staff in airlines, maritime, railway and urban transport management.

Thierry Mariani is on a visit to Vietnam from Jan. 13-15 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Dinh La Thang to promote cooperation.
